The Benecon Group is a privately held employee benefits and consulting firm headquartered in Lancaster County,Pennsylvania. *(1)

* Producer Services. Hundreds of independent insurance agents and brokers access health insurance coverage for their employer clients through Benecon, which has relationships with all of the region's major health insurance providers. Benecon's Actuarial and Consulting divisions support its agent and broker network.

* Private Sector Services. Benecon provides its broker network and large employer groups with benefit package review, including plan and cost analysis, enrollment software, contract review and reinsurance.

* Public Sector Services. Benecon pioneered the concept of health insurance purchasing cooperatives and self-funded workers compensation pools for municipalities, counties and school districts that improve the purchasing power of their benefit dollars.

* Actuarial Services. Benecon's Actuarial division assesses the impact of current and future trends and makes cost management and benefit design recommendations for employers. Actuarial analysis is also required for structuring and pricing self-funded insurance plans.

* Compliance Services. Benecon's Compliance division has developed model forms, policies and processes that can be used to administer employee benefit plans. Headed by attorney Kelly Knight, the Compliance division works closely with the Actuarial and Consulting divisions to bring our clients the legal knowledge and the insurance industry experience needed to comply with employee benefits laws, to administer their group benefit plans, and to answer questions about these plans for employers and their employees.

Predecessor company S.N. Lombardo Insurance Brokers, a property/casualty brokerage firm, was formed by Samuel N. Lombardo in 1977. Lombardo and Joel E. Callihan pioneered the concept of municipal purchasing cooperatives and formed Inter-Municipal Insurance Service, Inc. in 1992. The company was renamed The Benecon Group in 1996.

In 1997, the former Capital BlueCross and Highmark Blue Shield named Benecon a preferred broker. Since then, Benecon has developed relationships with all of the region's major health insurance providers, including a general agent relationship with HealthAssurance.

Benecon was named one of America's Entrepreneurial Growth Leaders by Inc. magazine in 2002, 2003, 2012, 2013.

Benecon was also named to the Top 50 Fastest-Growing Companies by the Central Penn Business Journal in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2013.
